Thank You Our Donors

In 1999, a group of compassionate community members came together with a shared vision: to create a safe haven for animals in need. This vision led to the founding of the Georgian Triangle Humane Society. What began as a volunteer-driven foster network has now evolved into the journey of building the Regional Centre for Pets and People – a modern, purpose-built facility that will elevate the care we can provide.

Throughout this journey, our donors have been the steadfast heart of these dreams. With their boundless generosity and a shared love for animals, our Capital Campaign supporters have made this vision possible. We are profoundly grateful to each of them for helping to create a brighter future for both animals and the people who care for them.

    David & Helen Capin

    A Legacy of Quiet Compassion

Lifelong Collingwood residents David and Helen Capin were devoted supporters of the Georgian Triangle Humane Society from the very beginning. Known for their love of overlooked and aging cats, they visited the Animal Centre monthly, dropping off donations for food and litter, adopting cats that needed extra care, and giving generously every holiday season.

After Helen’s passing in 2020, David continued their quiet tradition of giving. In his final years, he made the extraordinary decision to leave their entire estate to support the new Regional Centre for Pets and People.

In 2022, GTHS received the largest gift in its history, $3.1 million, from the Capins’ estate.

Though they never sought recognition, their compassion will live on for generations. Thanks to David and Helen, thousands of vulnerable animals will find comfort, healing, and a second chance.
