Serving Beyond Capacity
We have kept cherished pets with their loving families, even in the toughest times. We have healed the sick and injured, reunited lost pets with their relieved families, and woven thousands of joyous happily-ever-after tales of pets finding their new, loving homes.
But we have reached the limit of what we can do in our current Animal Centre.
As our community grows and faces ever-changing economic challenges, the need for a new Animal Centre has never been more urgent.
Our current facility is bursting at the seams, and the pressure to safely deliver essential programs for pets and people is mounting. The GTHS has outgrown its space and can no longer meet the needs of our community.
Imagine our brave cats and dogs, fresh from surgery, recovering in crowded hallways instead of the calm, quiet, safe spaces they need to heal. Despite our team’s best efforts, we are beyond capacity, relying on crates in the garage and the homes of our wonderful foster volunteers to find space for every precious animal. Our waitlist continues to grow, leaving us heartbroken as we turn away animals in need.
Our dog kennels are in disrepair, compromising the health, safety and comfort of the pups in our care. Our dedicated volunteers walk dogs along busy, truck-filled roadways, without the safety of sidewalks, risking their lives and the lives of the animals they care for so deeply.
Picture distressed clients, forced to have private, emotional conversations in public lobbies, stripped of their dignity and the comfort of privacy.
We have exhausted every possible way to maximize our current space. Moving to a new location is no longer just an option – it is a necessity.
We need a new Animal Centre. A place where animals can recover in peace and comfort, and where families can receive the support they need in times of crisis.
